Leeds solicitor Rachel McDonald is doing the half marathon

Rachel's aim is to raise money for birthing rooms in Funzi and Bodo.At present women give birth onto mud floors risking infection to themselves and their babies. This can lead to complications and even death.

The Funzi and Bodo Trust wants to build the birthing rooms on the sites of their existing clinics. The centres will have three rooms - a place where the women can wash, a delivery suite and a recovery room.

Local midwives will also be trained by the Trust to support those giving birth. A doctor will also be on call to deal with any complications.
