About The Clinics

Helping People See

The Funzi and Bodo Trust has been working with the Kwale Eye centre for several years. The centre is run by an English doctor, Dr Helen Roberts MBE, who has won international recognition for her work.

The two charities host eye camps on Funzi or in Bodo using the Trust's clinics and the centre's field experts. The Funzi and Bodo Trust pays for free glasses and also funds cataract operations at the hospital run by Dr Helen's charity.

The Kwale Eye Centre also accepts patients funded by the Trust for other treatments. The cataracts patients can be diagnosed in the afternoon, taken by our water ambulance to the Kwale eye centre by tea time and be operated upon the next day. They can be home by tea time the following day.
